Here are two fantastic basketball drills for developing shooting in both perimeter and post players.

This first drill features constant movement from all three players. One of the responsibilities. that comes with coaching youth basketball is the responsibility to give players the opportunity to develop all aspects of the game. This next drill is a post player shooting drill is should be used consistently with big players, but should also be something that perimeter players are exposed to as well. This drill is a simple drop step drill called "balls on the block". In this drill we again have three players in the basket. We again have to balls at a basket. To begin the drill, we place a ball on either low posts block. One player acts as a shooter. He will be completing upset moves on either side either low posts for the duration of the drill. Each of the other players acts as a rebounder. Every time the shooter picks the ball up from the low post and makes his drops to move the score, the shooter on that side on the same side of the floor rebounds the shot and places it back in its original spot on the low post. This way, the shooter can continuously back and force across block, picking the ball up on the low post with his back to the basket and making a drops the power move to the basket. Each circuit of the drill runs for 30 seconds. After the 30 seconds is up, the players rotate spots. We continue until each player has had a chance to shoot the ball for 30 seconds. The strength of this drill is that it develops players ability around the basket and provides muscle memory repetition of the drop step move, which should be the first low post moves that young players learn in their development into mature basketball players.
